    Breast Lift Surgery With Implants

When you want to add volume to your breasts, but your breast skin is too saggy or loose, you may not benefit from breast implants cosmetic surgery alone. Similarly, if you are looking for a firmer and perkier breast appearance, but the loss of breast volume is significant, you may achieve a natural and attractive look of the breasts.

In these situations, your surgeon may advise you to choose breast lift with implants cosmetic surgery. Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie provides breast augmentation with lift to patients in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and surrounding locations.

A Combined Surgery Overcomes the Limitations

At a basic level, a breast implant surgery will only enhance the size of your breasts. Therefore, if you are seeking fuller breasts but also want to make them appear firmer and more youthful, breast augmentation will be an inadequate procedure.

Breast lift or mastopexy, on the other hand, is only designed to reduce the excess breast skin, tighten the breast tissue, and elevate the nipple and areola complex to a more youthful level. Breast lift will not increase the size of your breasts.

Breast augmentation with lift is the only plastic surgery procedure that will work well when you need both fuller and firmer breasts to achieve a youthful overall breast appearance.

    Procedure

Breast lift with implants is often a more complex plastic surgery, which should preferably be performed only by an experienced, board certified plastic surgeon. The procedure will be performed at an accredited surgery center that is equipped for these procedures.

At first, you will be placed under general anesthesia so that you do not feel anything during your surgery and have no recollection of the procedure when you wake up. A qualified anesthesiologist or a registered anesthetist nurse will perform the anesthesia.

Following anesthesia, your surgeon will create the incisions in discreet, pre-planned locations as per the customized surgery plan. In cases where the incision is placed around the areola borders, a second vertical incision will be placed from the lower part of the areola to the base of the breast.

Through the incisions, the surgeon will place the breast implants under or over the pectoral muscle as per plan. They will then use the same incisions to remove loose breast skin and tighten the breast tissue in order to firm up your breasts and provide them a gentle lift.

In most cases, when breast implants and breast lift are performed together, it will be necessary to reposition the nipples and areolas to a new, raised level to create a natural appearance. It may take anywhere from 90 to 150 minutes to complete this entire procedure.

    Additional Procedures

Sometimes breast lift with implants may be performed as part of a mommy makeover surgery. Even otherwise, you may choose additional body contouring procedures such as liposuction, tummy tuck, or butt lift to create an even looking and natural overall appearance.

What are the pros and cons of breast lift surgery with implants?

    Breast lift surgery with implants

Women who are in need of a comprehensive breast appearance makeover may benefit from a combination of breast augmentation and breast lift surgeries. It is best to have these procedures performed together for several reasons.

During your initial consultation, your surgeon will explain to you the pros and cons of a combined breast procedure to help you make a poignant decision. Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie provides breast augmentation with lift to patients in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and surrounding communities.

    Benefits of a Combined Surgery

You can improve both size and shape of breasts

Breast augmentation cosmetic surgery will add fullness to the upper pole of your breasts through placement of saline or silicone implants. If you are looking to enhance cleavage or correct asymmetry, it can be done with this procedure.

In addition to more voluptuous looking breasts, if you need to elevate sagging breasts to a firmer, more youthful level, you can benefit from a breast lift. In other words, for a comprehensive cosmetic transformation of your breasts, a combined surgery will help rather than an individual breast implant or breast lift procedure.

You only go through one preparation and recovery period

Recovery is integral to any breast surgery procedure. When you combine breast augmentation with lift, you will go through a recovery phase only once. The recovery process would be quite similar to what you would go if you only chose a single procedure, whether breast lift or breast implants.

Apart from saving time and hassle, you will also go through the temporary soreness, swelling and bruising only once with a combination surgery. Even the pre-operative preparation is vital for any major surgery.

Focusing on your diet, avoiding certain medications and adjusting the schedule of ongoing prescription drugs, taking time off from work, hiring a caregiver if necessary, and preparing your home for recovery are some of the key elements of your preparation process. With breast augmentation with lift plastic surgery, you go through this process only once.

    More cost-effective

It may appear counter-intuitive, but when you combine breast lift and breast augmentation as one procedure, you will pay for the surgeon’s fee, anesthesiologist’s fee, surgery room costs, and post-op care only once. Compared to that, if you go through breast lift and breast implant surgeries separately, you will end up repeating all these processes and costs twice.

    Limitations of a Combined Procedure

Breast implants with lift is a relatively more invasive procedure compared to a single surgery. The surgery will take more time in the operating room because the surgeon will not only place the implants, but also reduce the excess breast skin and tighten the tissue.

Depending on the surgical technique chosen, a combined procedure may involve slightly more scarring because of multiple incisions. Most importantly, you will only need to work with an experienced and highly skilled plastic surgeon who understands the intricacies of a combined procedure, and can minimize the incisions and risks.

What is breast lift surgery with implants?

    Breast lift surgery with implants

Breast lift and breast augmentation both rank among the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures in the US. But some women may experience both loss of breast volume and sagging breast tissue, which requires a combination of both these surgeries to correct the breast appearance.

Your surgeon will evaluate your breast anatomy along with your personal aesthetic goals at the time of initial consultation. Based on your needs, they will determine whether you are a fit candidate for breast lift surgery with implants.

Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie provides breast augmentation with lift to patients in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and surrounding locations.

    Candidacy

Breast implants with lift plastic surgery is usually appropriate for women in the age group of 40 and above who are unhappy with their smaller as well as droopy breast appearance. But some younger women may also benefit from this surgery, if they experience the same conditions following pregnancy or a substantial weight loss.

Heredity is another factor that may require a woman to undergo breast augmentation with lift at a relatively younger age. You should consider the following signs to see if you might be a candidate for this surgery:

    • Your breasts are sagging and have lost volume and shape
    • Your breasts are pendulous, or have an elongated, flatter shape
    • Without support, your nipples tend to sag under the breast crease
    • Your nipples and areolas are pointing downward
    • Breasts are asymmetrical

    Benefits of a Combined Procedure

Breast lift with breast augmentation has several advantages for the right candidate:

    • Safety profile of a combined augmentation and lift is as good as that of a single surgery
    • The surgeon can use common incisions to perform both procedures, which will reduce scarring
    • Less degree of lifting will be required because the implants will help fill out the breasts
    • You will go through general anesthesia, surgery, and recovery only once for the dual procedure

According to researchers, recovery, side effects, and potential risks are not very different, whether you choose a single breast surgery or a combined procedure.

    Surgical Procedure

Following general anesthesia, your procedure will begin with the surgeon placing discreet incisions beneath the breast crease or around the areolas to perform breast augmentation and lift.

Once the breast pocket is created, the saline or silicone implants will be placed above or below the pectoral muscle. The incisions and implant placement will be done according to the pre-determined customized surgical plan.

Following the implant placement, the surgeon will excise the loose breast skin and tighten the tissue to provide a subtle lift to the breasts. If significant breast skin reduction and reposition of nipples and areolas is required, the surgeon may first perform the breast lift and then place the implants.

Once both the procedures are completed, the surgeon will close the incisions with sutures. They will wrap the incision sites in bandages for the first one or two days. Once the bandage is removed, you will be required to wear a surgical bra for a few days.
