Liposuction For Your Calves And Ankles

Liposuction For Your Calves And Ankles

Liposuction For Your Calves And Ankles | Beverly Hills | Los AngelesOver the last 20 years, liposuction cosmetic surgery of the lower extremities has become quite popular. Rapid advancements in body contouring surgical techniques have made it possible to achieve safe and very effective outcomes for liposuction of the calves and ankles.

    The Problem is Manageable

When it comes to stubborn fat pockets, perhaps there is no tougher site in your body than the calves and ankles. Fat accumulation in these areas often occurs because of a patient’s genetic makeup. But thick calves and the so-called “cankles” can be successfully addressed with liposuction.

Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie provides calves and ankles liposuction to patients in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, CA, and surrounding locations.

    General Overview

In most cases, the calf or ankle liposuction is not performed on its own. The surgeon will usually shape the complete lower leg to create most pleasing outcomes.

For this reason, both ankle and calf liposuction surgeries are performed as a single procedure. It can ensure that the proportion of the lower legs remains well-maintained. Sometimes, the surgeon may additionally perform liposuction of the thighs and knees in order to create more natural looking lower body appearance.

While performing liposuction of the calves and ankles, the surgeon’s key consideration is to ensure that overall proportion is correct. Their purpose in performing liposuction plastic surgery is not weight loss, but to establish a patient’s natural aesthetics through removal of excess and stubborn fat.

In order to produce the best and most appealing results, the surgeon will take into account every aspect of the patient’s body.

    Surgical Procedure

In performing ankles and calves liposuction, the surgeon will create tiny incisions in targeted sites, and then gently insert a thin cannula into the fat layer of the ankle and calf.

By carefully manipulating the cannula physically back and forth through the layer of fat tissue, while remaining parallel to the skin, the surgeon will dislodge the unwanted fat cells. These fat cells will then be sucked through the cannula and expelled from the body.

Calf liposuction surgery is performed using minimally invasive tumescent liposuction. During the entire procedure, the patient may remain conscious or mildly sedated because only local anesthesia is used. Tumescent liposuction technique helps achieve faster healing and better results than other more invasive liposuction methods.

In delivering effective liposuction of the calves, incision placement is vital. The surgeon will place the incisions directly under the knee, and towards the top of the calf. Using two different incisions placed on either side of the calf, the surgeon can address the whole calf area with gentle and smooth passes of the cannula.

The surgeon will use their artistic eye for detail and a deep understanding of the anatomy of lower extremities to mold the calf into a slimmer, more youthful shape with liposuction.

For liposuction of the ankles, the surgeon will take a similar approach. They will create small incisions on each side of the ankle, which will enable them to reach the deeper layers of unwanted fat.

    Precision

The ankle is a very small site, and the surgeon will use their skill to ensure the cannula does not hurt or poke the skin from below (this can cause dimpling). While performing ankle liposuction surgery, the precise amount of fat is removed in order to ensure the ankle retains its unique shape.

    Liposuction For Your Knees

Liposuction For Your Knees | Beverly Hills | West HollywoodYou can maintain a fit and well-toned body with regular diet and exercise regimen. However, some trouble spots in the body may still not respond well in terms of fat reduction. One of the problem areas where it is hard to reduce fat deposits is your knees.

If you have nicely contoured thighs and calves but fatty knees, it could detract from your otherwise shapely appearance of the legs. However, you may choose knee liposuction cosmetic surgery to ensure that your knees look as good as the rest of the lower body.

Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie provides knee liposuction to patients in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, CA, and surrounding communities.

    Advantages of Knee Fat Liposuction

In many cases, the removal of even a small amount of fat tissue can make a major difference to the overall leg aesthetics, helping them to appear sleek and symmetrical.

While knee liposuction may be all that is required to re-contour the knees, patients often choose to receive inner thigh liposuction plastic surgery at the same time to achieve proportionate and attractive results that enhance their overall lower body silhouette.

Additionally, some patients may like to have a knee lift at the same time. This is a relatively new procedure, which is becoming popular among celebrities. It can eliminate ‘kninkles’ or knee wrinkles, promote fresh collagen fiber production, and tighten loose skin tissue above the knee.

You can expect to have the following key benefits after undergoing knee liposuction surgery, particularly when it is undertaken in combination with outer or inner thigh liposuction:

    • More toned-looking and youthful leg appearance
    • Greater comfort and ease when running or walking
    • More confidence to wearing clothing that reveals the knees

    Good Candidates

If your body weight is within a relatively normal range for your height, but you suffer from excessive fat deposits around the knees (especially in the inner knee), while having a fairly good skin tone and elasticity, then you could a good candidate for knee liposuction.

    Surgical Procedure

Knee liposuction is a cosmetic procedure that is designed to eliminate excess fat from targeted areas of your knees. In this surgery, a small, thin cannula will be inserted into specific locations around your knees through small incisions.

The surgeon will then gently suction out of the excess fat from the knees. The procedure may sometimes include the use of laser beams or ultrasound waves, which are designed to melt the fat through controlled heat, making it easier to eliminate it from the knees.

Knee liposuction is not meant to tighten loose or excess skin in and around the knees. If you suffer from excess skin in the knees, you might need a knee lift surgery.

If you maintain healthy weight, it will ensure the results last longer. Regular exercise will build muscle tone and enhance the final outcome.

    Recovery

The knee liposuction is carried out on an outpatient basis. It usually takes anywhere from half an hour to 45 minutes to perform, and can be done with regional or local anesthesia.

Patients are usually able to resume normal activity within two to three weeks following the knee fat reduction surgery. They can return to their regular exercise routine within four to six weeks.

    Liposuction For Your Back

Liposuction For Your Back | Beverly Hills | West HollywoodEven if you follow a regular cardio or strength training at the gym, the truth is that back fat could still be difficult to eliminate.

This is the fat tissue that gets deposited underneath the bra line for women, detracting from a slim and toned shape from behind.

Liposuction cosmetic surgery of the back can offer significant visible improvements. But the procedure may be more effective on individuals who have not lost large amounts of weight (so they don’t have loose skin).

Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie provides back liposuction to patients in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, CA, and surrounding locations.

    Back Fat Types

The fat tissue in the back can be categorized into a few important areas:

    • Infra-scapular fat (commonly called female flanks): This is located above the waistline and underneath the shoulder blades. These are the unsightly fat deposits that often bulge below the bra strap.
    • Posterior axillary fat: This fat is located around the upper-outer back area, close to the armpit.
    • Posterior waist fat: These fat deposits can be found above and posterior to the buttocks and hips.
    • Lumbo-sacral fat pad: It is seen in midline of the lower back, right above the tailbone.
    • Buffalo hump: This includes fat deposits located in the upper back area, close to the neck.

    Fat in Infra-scapular Back Area

Infra-scapular back refers to the area on the back right beneath the bra. The fat tissue in this region is in the form of a single subcutaneous layer, but does not have a well-defined deep fat compartment.

When a woman is wearing a tight bra, this area might bulge out more visibly. Some women may have a genetic predisposition to collect fat in the site of infra-scapular back.

With obesity becoming increasingly common, the infra-scapular back among many patients may accumulate so much fat tissue that the skin and subcutaneous tissue could bunch-up and form parallel rolls of fat.

Tumescent liposuction is less invasive body contouring plastic surgery technique to remove this unsightly localized “bra-fat” and provide dramatic aesthetic improvement.

    Surgical Procedure

During the back liposuction surgery, the surgeon will create a series of minor incisions into the back at specific locations. They will then insert a slender cannula into the incision areas. Through the cannulas, which are attached to a suction pump at the other end, the surgeon will gently remove the excess fat from the back.

In some cases, the surgeon may use laser or ultrasound energy to heat up and melt the fat, making its removal less traumatic. With heating techniques, some degree of skin tightening may also occur.

The patient may only require a local or regional anesthetic. Depending on the amount of fat tissue that is removed from the back, the surgery could last for about one to two hours.

    Post-Surgical Care

Following back liposuction, the incision sites may be covered with absorbent pads, which are held in place with a torso compression garment.

Back liposuction may not require too much external compression. The torso motion during respiration along with other everyday activities could be enough to improve the condition and promote healing.

    Candidates

Liposuction for back fat removal is not a weight loss surgery or a skin tightening procedure. The goal is to eliminate excess fat from targeted areas of the back help sculpt and tone it to a desirable shape.

Patients who have significant loose skin following rapid loss of weight may have to choose a skin tightening procedure along with back liposuction. Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie receives patients from Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, CA, and nearby areas for back liposuction.

    Liposuction For Your Chest

Liposuction For Your Chest | Beverly Hills | West HollywoodFor many women with large or pendulous breasts, their double D cups can become a bodily burden.

Heavy breasts can create a lifetime of problems for a woman — limiting sports and other physical activities, and causing considerable neck, shoulder and back pain and spinal problems, or even emotional issues.

Liposuction for the breasts is a conservative cosmetic surgery procedure, which involves lesser trauma, minimal scarring, quicker recovery and better results as compared to the traditional breast reduction surgery.

    Basic Facts

Liposuction for the breast for a suitable candidate is a special variation of the traditional liposuction. The surgeon may be able to reduce the patient’s breasts by anywhere from one to three cup sizes.

Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie provides chest liposuction to patients in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, CA, and surrounding communities.

    Different from Traditional Breast Reduction

In the traditional mammaplasty or breast reduction surgery, the surgeon will make a substantial T-shaped incision to remove excessive glandular tissue, fat, and loose skin.

However, a liposuction breast reduction procedure will involve just one small incision, discreetly placed under the fold of each breast. The incision will be just long enough to allow the passage for a small cannula, through which the surgeon will suction out excess breast fat from the deeper layers.

While the traditional breast reduction surgery can take a few hours and several weeks for full recovery, liposuction of the breasts may take less than one hour with the patient back to her regular activities within a week.

Liposuction breast reduction surgery may be ideally suited for women who may have previously been reluctant due to the potential risks of scarring and altered sensation in the nipples. When the surgeon uses liposuction to remove the fat portion of the breast, these risks are minimized.

    Tumescent Liposuction of the Breast

Breast liposuction plastic surgery using tumescent liposuction of the breast can be performed using only local anesthesia. The procedure can create a significant breast reduction as well as a moderate breast lift.

The surgeon will make use of micro-cannulas to perform breast reduction with minimal tissue trauma, low post-operative pain, faster recovery, and virtually no scarring.

For the suitable candidate, liposuction can reduce the breast by as much as 50 percent in size and the breasts may also get lifted to some degree. This subtle breast lift may occur because of the reduced weight of the breast, which enables the natural elastic properties of the breast skin to create contraction and produce elevation.

The breasts will not change shape following tumescent liposuction, and simply become smaller in size and somewhat raised. After liposuction, the shape of the breast is simply a smaller version of its original shape before liposuction.

    Who is a Suitable Candidate?

Some women may achieve better results than others after breast liposuction surgery. Tumescent breast reduction may only be appropriate for women who have more of fatty tissue in the breasts instead of glandular tissue. But for the appropriate candidate, the results of breast liposuction can be very gratifying.

Women who have been through their menopause typically have breasts with a larger proportion of fatty tissue than younger women. They could make ideal candidates for breast liposuction.

    Post-op Recovery

The patient may leave with small surgical drains in each incision site in the breasts for a few days. The drain tubes will prevent fluid buildup and promote rapid healing. Patient will be required to wear a compression bra for several weeks to allow the breasts to safely firm up to their new shape.

Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie receives patients from Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, CA, and nearby areas for chest liposuction.
