What is a Weekend Facelift?

What is a Weekend Facelift?

Weekend Facelift | Plastic Surgery | Beverly Hills | Los AngelesA weekend facelift is a common way to describe a mini or partial facelift plastic surgery. People who are bothered by the appearance of wrinkles and sagging skin in the lower third of the face may choose a weekend facelift rather than a full traditional facelift surgery. The surgeon will place small incisions in discreet areas around the ears to restore a younger looking lower face and improve chin definition through tightening of underlying tissue and removal of excess skin.

Each individual’s facial anatomy and their personal aesthetic needs and expectations are unique. An experienced cosmetic surgeon will tailor the weekend facelift to enhance the lower face in accordance with the specific needs of the patient. Dr. Gary Motykie is a leading, board certified plastic surgeon providing weekend facelift and various other procedures of the breast, body, and face to patients in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and surrounding locations.

Who should choose a weekend facelift?

Adults who are concerned about the conspicuous aging signs in the lower face, such as a poorly defined jaw line, and want to achieve only subtle facial rejuvenation may be fantastic candidates for a weekend facelift plastic surgery. Working people and busy mothers who want a procedure involving quick recovery and minimal risk, or younger patients who want to delay the onset of signs of aging with a maintenance procedure may choose a weekend facelift.

Benefits

Major benefits of a weekend facelift include:

  • Reduced risk of complications: Bruising, swelling and tenderness are significantly lower as compared to a full facelift.
  • Minimal scarring: Smaller and discreetly placed incisions, which are hidden within the hairline and facial contours result in minimal scarring.
  • Short duration of procedure: A weekend facelift is usually completed in one to two hours. Patients can go home the same day.
  • No general anesthesia: The procedure can be performed using only local anesthesia, and the patient will remain conscious throughout the surgery.
  • Faster recovery: Downtime is minimal in case of a weekend facelift and the recovery is less painful.

Experienced cosmetic surgeon Dr. Motykie receives patients from Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and nearby areas for weekend facelift surgery.

SMAS Lifting

Many surgeons now include SMAS lifting technique as a part of a weekend facelift procedure. A skin lift alone cannot produce significant results. A mini SMAS lift will involving tightening and repositioning of the underlying muscular structure system as well as fat tissue, in addition to tightening of the loose skin. Therefore, with SMAS lifting the results of a weekend facelift can be more effective and natural looking.

Recovery

Patients should note that while weekend facelift is a popular term, it may not be entirely correct to say in every case that the recovery will just take a weekend. Most patients will require about three to five days for a proper recovery. After this initial period, they can resume their normal routine or return to work. However, mild swelling will last for several weeks and will go away gradually.

SmartGraft Hair Restoration Questions & Answers

SmartGraft Hair Restoration Questions & Answers | Beverly Hills | LASmartGraft is a cutting edge hair restoration technology that can create thicker, natural looking hair in a minimally invasive manner. Dr. Gary Motykie is a leading provider of plastic surgery as well as non-surgical aesthetic procedures. Dr. Motykie has introduced this remarkable and highly innovative SmartGraft technology to address hair loss and hair thinning in both men and women.

At the time of initial consultation, experienced cosmetic surgeon Dr. Motykie will educate the patient about all aspects of SmartGraft technique. He provides this procedure to patients in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and surrounding locations.

Is SmartGraft a manual or automated procedure?

SmartGraft is a fully automated device that is designed to gently extract micro hair grafts from the donor sites. These grafts are then implanted to the recipient areas in a safe, efficient and environmentally controlled way. Patients can be expected to gain natural, thick and permanent hair re-growth. Plastic surgery expert Dr. Motykie and his team perform this procedure using local anesthesia.

Will it produce natural looking outcomes?

SmartGraft will lead to the growth of new hair grafts in sites of hair loss or thinning. The transplant sites will achieve fuller and very natural looking hair. The look is totally natural because the procedure involves the use of patient’s own hair.

How does SmartGraft fare in comparison to traditional hair restoration procedures?

SmartGraft has proved to be a superior technique in the following ways:

  • Results are denser and more natural looking.
  • Outcomes are achieved in a shorter time.
  • Both men and women can benefit equally, even though their hair loss patterns are different.
  • Higher precision is possible due to full automation of the hair transplant process, resulting in better framing of the face.
  • Grafts can be harvested from secondary sites such as the face, back, and chest, leading to better outcomes.

Does a SmartGraft necessarily require a buzz cut?

No. If the hair is reasonably long, the SmartGraft expert can harvest hair grafts by shaving small areas that get covered by the longer hair.

Will the procedure cause pain and discomfort?

Most patients do not report any significant discomfort or pain during the SmartGraft procedure. The procedure can simply be performed in-office. To ensure total patient comfort, the treatment provider will use a local anesthetic. Patients can enjoy listening to music, watch a movie or read while the procedure is in progress.

How difficult is the recovery period?

Recovery is largely painless and smooth, and healing will occur quickly. Most patients can return to their normal activities or go back to the workplace a day after SmartGraft. Activity restrictions during the recovery phase are generally minimal.

When can I see the results?

The growth of newly transplanted hair will occur in several phases. The patient can notice new hair in three months, and further improvements will continue over the next several months. In about a year’s time, the patient will attain full hair re-growth.

Leading cosmetic surgeon Dr. Motykie receives patients from Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and nearby areas for SmartGraft.

Recovery and Results

Following the SmartGraft treatment, the newly transplanted hair will grow in a natural way in multiple growth phases. During the first few weeks, the hair will attain root and then begin shedding, which is normal. In about three to four months, the patient will notice the appearance of new hair.

Hair growth will continue progressively over the next several months, and in about one year the full growth will be attained. Recovery with SmartGraft is easier and faster, and the patient will have fewer restrictions during recovery. The patient can expect to return to their normal routine or go back to work in one to two days.
