What is the Average Cost of Breast Reduction Surgery?

What is the Average Cost of Breast Reduction Surgery?Reduction mammaplasty, commonly known as breast reduction is a cosmetic surgery procedure aimed at reducing the size of breasts to make them more proportionate to the rest of the body. Board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Gary Motykie, provides breast reduction and other procedures to patients in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and nearby locations.

As an experienced cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Motykie will discuss various aspects of breast reduction during the initial consultation, including its estimated costs. His goal is to help the patients make a well informed decision about breast reduction plastic surgery.

Cost Factors

The cost of breast reduction surgery can differ between two places, and may even vary between two patients at the same practice. A number of factors go into determining the overall cost of the procedure.

Where the Practice is Located

The cost of living index usually varies between regions, which can have an influence on the average cost of most products and services, including cosmetic surgery services. For instance, the cost of breast reduction procedure in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and nearby areas may not be the same as the cost of the same procedure in Boston, MA.

Fee of the Surgeon

The fee charged by a plastic surgeon may vary, depending on their skills, experience and reputation in the field of breast surgery. As per the guidelines provided by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), patients should choose the right surgeon for their needs, and treat surgeon’s fee only as a secondary consideration in such a decision.

Surgical Facility and Anesthesia Costs

The costs of the surgical facility may vary on the basis of the quality of facilities, equipment, technology, experienced staff and personalized service provided at a particular place. The fee charged by the anesthesiologist may also differ according to their qualifications and experience.

Other Expenses

Breast reduction plastic surgery may also involve additional expenses such as medical tests, mammograms, prescription medications, surgical bra, and other costs. These costs should be accounted for when preparing a cost estimate prior to the procedure.

Extent of Surgery Performed

In some cases, the patient may only need a minor breast reduction, while in other cases the procedure may be more extensive. The length and complexity of the procedure can make an impact on the overall costs. Sometimes breast reduction procedure may be combined with other surgeries such as liposuction, or it may be a part of a mommy makeover surgery.

When combined with other treatments, the overall procedure becomes more cost-effective. However, the actual cost in each case will differ, and the patient should be aware of the costs prior to going ahead with the procedure.
