What Is Breast Augmentation Mastopexy (BAM)?

Breast Augmentation Mastopexy (BAM)

What Is Breast Augmentation Mastopexy (BAM)?Breast skin can easily become loose after pregnancy or due to aging. However, there are several other reasons for loose breast skin, such as reduction in breast volume. This can cause deflated or sagging breasts, which may require a Breast augmentation mastopexy (BAM) to improve the condition. BAM is a combination of two procedures in a single surgery – breast lift and breast augmentation.

The plastic surgery can go a long way in restoring your youthful upper body appearance while addressing any issues you may have regarding shape, size, and appearance of your breasts. Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie provides breast augmentation mastopexy to patients in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and surrounding locations.

Benefits of Breast Augmentation Mastopexy (BAM)

Breast augmentation mastopexy surgery can fully restore the appearance of your breasts. Your plastic surgeon shall tighten the breast muscles for a perkier appearance while repositioning the breasts for a more youthful and elevated appearance. The procedure is highly beneficial from both cosmetic and reconstructive standpoint.

You can enjoy fuller breasts with a projecting image after this surgery. The surgery ensures that your breasts don’t have a sagging or scooped out look. Breast augmentation mastopexy procedure can address the following key concerns:

  • Droopy or hanging breasts
  • Asymmetrical breasts
  • Loss of breast volume in the upper portion
  • Loss of breast shape
  • Stretch marks or creases on the breasts

Breast Augmentation Mastopexy Surgical Procedure

Breast augmentation mastopexy procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia. Your cosmetic surgeon will create discreet incisions on your breasts. This can be under the breast crease or around the areolas. Breast implants will be inserted through these incisions. They are usually placed right under the pectoral muscles.

The surgeon will also excise any loose tissue or skin from the area and bring the tissues closer. This will cause your breasts to have a lifted appearance and to settle at a higher position. Breast augmentation mastopexy allows for improving breast projection as well as breast volume. The best part about this procedure is that you will have less scarring since you are addressing multiple breast aesthetic issues with the same procedure.

Typically, crescent incisions are used by surgeons. However, if your breasts are heavily sagging, the surgeon may need to use a lollipop incision.

Cleavage Enhancement during BAM

Some women prefer getting optional procedures done, such as cleavage enhancement during Breast augmentation mastopexy. The shape, type, and size of the implants will be based on your anatomical demands and aesthetic needs. Make sure you discuss your goals and expectations during the pre-op consultation with your surgeon.

Downtime and Recovery

Recovery time after getting a Breast augmentation mastopexy is no different from the time taken after breast augmentation plastic surgery or breast lift. You should be able to return to work after 1 – 2 weeks of the surgery. However, most surgeons recommend performing only low-intensive work for the first few weeks.

Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie receives patients from Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and nearby areas for breast augmentation mastopexy.
